The need has never been
greater. Children in our state today need our help. Birth
families are not always able to provide the best care for children.
Unfortunately, sometimes they cannot keep children safe. That's where
committed Foster Parents come in. You can make a difference by opening
your home to these children.
Here's how:
- Contact the Floyd County
Department of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) or call 1-877-210-KIDS.
- Tell them you're interested in
becoming a Foster Parent
- Ask for the Resource
Development person in the county
- Ask this person when the next
training classes are going to begin
- Schedule a time to meet the
Resource Development person to find out how you can become a Foster Parent
And, there's a great need for home
to provide other services without becoming a certified Foster Parent. With
just a few steps, you can provide valuable help to Foster Parents:
- Become a qualified temporary
care provider. Ask your local DFCS county Resource Development Person
how
- Provide food, clothing,
birthday and Christmas gifts to children
- Help with children's activities
- Provide places for visits
- Provide what we call respite
care for Foster Children - you look after them to give Foster Parents a much
needed break
And these are just a few of the
ways you can help. Call the Floyd County DFCS office at 706-295-6500 now
to see how you can help!
